At, Above, and Below

McDonald’s:

  • Above average location.
  • Average food.
  • Below average menu prices.

They win with convenience and a burger that taste the same every time.

Ritz-Carlton:

  • Above average location.
  • Above average food/service.
  • Above average room rates.

They win with stunning campuses  combined with a culture of service that feels the same every time.

Little Caesars:

  • Below average locations, typically.
  • Below average food.
  • Below average cost.

They win by without having to make a call there is $5.00 pizza that is hot and ready every time.

There is no formula for success. It is your call on where you want to dance around the line of average – just be consistent.

Service: Our Lead Singer

I don’t want to see U2 in concert without Bono.

The Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger is soul-less.

Michael missing in the Jackson 5 is your typical Star Search performance.

Service is the lead singer of the music our businesses, churches, and families create.

Drop service as your lead singer and ticket sales will plummet.

Average and Excellence

The Law of Average:

Average effort produces average results.

The Law of Excellence:

Excellent effort produces excellent results.

Careful with Average. He tends to over promise and under perform.

Be prepared for Excellence. Most of what she offers will feel like a marathon.

Results are not coincidental, and you get what you give.

The 5 Senses, Pay, and Attention

This doesn’t look right. Our eyes have paid attention.

This sounds a little out of tune. Our ears have paid attention.

This tastes funny. Our tongue has paid attention.

This smells fishy. Our nose has paid attention.

This feels too hot. Our fingers have paid attention.

In a world that is moving 1,000,000 m.p.h. it is easy to overlook, hit the mute button, eat too fast, ignore smoke alarms, and forget to use a hot pad.

Paying with your attention will compensate your focus.
