Simply put, learning is the space, the practice, the river, and the discipline that happens in between our knowing and unknowing.

It isn’t a journey into more knowing.

It’s the experience through what you know into what you don’t know.

And once you make it though the unknown you exit on the other side with a little more light, insight, and awe. And, hopefully, that new bit of light shines its rays on even more WONDERful questions to journey through.

Learning sounds a lot like faith doesn’t it?

What if we were more discontent with what we knew and more content with the mysterious places in our hearts and heads?

We would get somewhere.

Somewhere beautiful.

Somewhere our knowing would have never taken us.

You’re going to have to leave…

…the world of measurement.

Sooner or later, you’ll find that the numbers, tallies, and scoring systems aren’t where the joy and the beauty is.

Einstein once said, “Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.”

We’ve stopped keeping score in our house…

Now beauty is in the lead and our hope is only to catch a ride somewhere new off its mysterious draft.

Beautiful and pretty…

…are not the same.

One of these is predictable….the other a mystery that loves to surprise and delight us.

One hangs out in the mundane…and the other is filtered into our frames.

One is generic and voted for by the masses…the other is only known, appreciated, and held by a few.

One is externally confirming……the other is altruistic and internal.

And satisfaction, meaning, contentment, fulfillment, and art are only synonymous with one of these.
