A Conversation with Ty Nathan Clark

Ty Clark has been creating in multiple genres since he was 4 years old. Ty grew up in a family imbued by culture. His uncle was Conway “Jiggs” Pierson, the world renowned Sculptor and Raku artist, who impacted his drive and passion for the arts at an early age. He has been exhibiting nationally for over 15 years and in 2010 was named one of America’s Brightest Young Influencers by Catalyst. Other recipients on the list included Blake MyCoskie (TOMS Shoes), Jack Dorsey (Twitter), Scott Harrison (Charity Water), Aaron Cohen (Human Rights Activist), Kyle Korver (NBA), Kohl Crecelius (Krochet Kids), Jon Chu (Director) and Danielle Sturridge (Liverpool EPL).

In search of “The Thin Places”, places on earth where the “Divine Presence” is so strong that they serve as portals from this world to the next, Ty has traveled the globe. He has traveled to 5 continents while spending time living, serving, creating and learning in over 20 countries, and cultures around the world. Ty was recently named one of ten contemporary artists in Austin to watch in 2017 by Culture List. An artist, writer, designer, activist, and filmmaker, Ty has shown his work in over 15 states across the US.

In addition to the influence of his uncle “Jiggs” he studied under American sculptor William Catling while attending Azusa Pacific University’s School of Fine Arts. Also known as SAMO4PREZ, Ty is a founding member of the Veritas Artist Collective, 5D Artists Group, and The ANWA Collective. He has spearheaded collaborations with other artists, organizations, and communities around the world for the past two decades, advancing support and dialogue around issues regarding arts, culture, community building and poverty alleviation.

His work is a representation of his stories, thoughts, prayers and dreams that he has compiled on his journeys, through his friends stories and his own writings. Ty is a student of music, literature and film (currently working on 2 feature documentaries), his passion for the history of cultural movements drives his love to create and share on canvas, written and spoken word, through a lens and on screen. He draws on his experience as a leader to facilitate effective communication between diverse groups of people and organizations. Over the years he has mentored a large number of artists and entrepreneurs, volunteered within the arts and local/international community programs, and is committed to sharing his experience, knowledge and gifts with others.

Join us in Tucson this April

Imagine a world where you are fully present, attentive to all that surrounds you, where love and joy fill your days and fear is left behind.  Imagine your life with depth and meaning, humor and lightheartedness, as well as intention and connection. For a couple of days this spring, we’re going to dive into these possibilities.

This year’s Oomph Retreat will focus on ‘Being Alive’, what it means and what it does not, mean, what it looks and feels like, and what might that road be like for you.  We will explore themes of vulnerability, presence, intuition, heart vs. mind, living from the inside out, the enneagram, true self/false self, how to design your life guidelines, and much more.

See http://www.patricklilly.com/oomph.html for more information.

The 3 Modalities of Doing (via Eckhart Tolle)

Today, become aware of the posture you enter each of your moments with.

Eckhart Tolle teaches that if you cannot enter into your moments with at least one the “3 modalities” of doing, you will create for yourself suffering.

The 3 modalities are:

  1. Acceptance
  2. Enjoyment
  3. Enthusiasm

Check these out.

See for yourself.

Delight will be your guide.

The Magic Number…

…is enough.

Any other number that we believe is the bridge between us and our joy, peace, and contentment is simply not true.

You can’t weigh enough.

You can’t count enough.

You can’t measure enough.

You can only hold it…be with it…and enjoy it. It’s simply experiential and it’s the most freeing number your soul will ever know.

PS // What if we taught our children how to count to enough? My sense is that by learning how to behold the ‘enough’ in their little lives they would also internally find a way to see this big beautiful truth in the mirror as well.
