The Leader’s Most Important Place Without a Name

Somewhere music is seen before it’s ever made or heard.

That somewhere is birthplace of vision. I wish that somewhere had a name, but it doesn’t. Maybe if it had a name we wouldn’t be so eager to get there…and it would be just that, a place with a name.

Nevertheless, the role of a leader unfolds in such a place. For this is where he or she must dwell and report back.

Leroy Eims once said, “A leader is who sees more than others see, who sees farther than others see, and who sees before others do.”

In other words, a leader is ridiculously and relentlessly aware of all things happening below the surface, behind the actions, in the words, and on the other side of the horizon.

Care. Help. Change. Cure.

We’ve all had the moment when we noticed a place or a people we could help.

That was the moment we became an entrepreneur.

If you responded to what you noticed, that was moment you became an artist.

Art is about a response.

Change this place.

Establish new rules.

Draw new lines.

Connect new dots.

Care of enough to actually help and the music unfolds.

Cure what ails them.

This is the gospel of entrepreneurship.

Fun Fact

The freedom of doing what you want to do is always preceded by doing something you probably didn’t want to do.

Sowing precedes the harvest, the grind proceeds results, and no fun precedes fun.

Go do something that 99 out of 100 people won’t do and you’ll find yourself having more fun than 99 out of 100 people.

How Did I Get Here?

When we find ourselves asking this question, in a negative sense, it’s almost always due to a lack of pause in our days and awareness to what’s been unfolding around us.

Measure.

Measure.

Measure.

Measure.

Galileo Galilei said it best. Measure what is measurable, and make measurable what is not so.
