Opting In

Instead of fearing the hard work, opt in for it.

Afraid to make the sales call, opt in and make it happen.

Concerned about showing your art to the public?…opt in for the gallery display.

What happens with consistent opt-in is a gradual move from fear to familiarity.

That speech that frightened you is now a comfortable stage.

The writing that was difficult to sit down and do is now a familiar part of your day.

We look at roller coasters a lot differently after the ride is over than we did while standing in line to ride it.

Stephen R. Covey’s Definition of LTMP

In The 8th Habit, Stephen R. Covey’s encore book to The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, he says “When you engage in work that taps your talent and fuels your passion – that rises out of a great need in the world that you feel drawn by conscious to meet – therein lies your voice, your calling, your soul’s code.”

  • You’ve been specifically wired. Plug in.
  • Something stirs in you. Expose that.
  • There’s need here. Fulfill it.
  • And then there is that small, green-light voice..the one that assures…the one that prompts. Lend it an ear.

This my friends is the formula to the music you are longing to make and we are eagerly awaiting to hear.

Let her rip.

A Compass Called “Better”

The hope is that you, your widget, your idea, and your purpose gets better each day.

For some, 365 days of better gets them to being the best.

For others it’s 10,000 hours of better that gets them to being the best.

If you’re goal is to be the best, but you’re lacking a compass – just point at better. Better today coupled with compound interest tomorrow will get you to best.

Einstein struck gold with his thoughts on compound interest. “Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it…he who doesn’t…pays it.”

Eventually, though, the legends of “best” start a new flow. It goes – best, better than that, best again, better than that, best again, better than that, and so forth.

How’s your game?

How’s your magic?

How’s your purpose?

How’s your hustle?

If you think it’s the best I can only hope you can see it becoming better.

Surround Sounds

Give me five minutes with you and I can probably predict the sounds, thoughts, and ideas that currently surround you.
I can tell you the books, people, and ideas that have shaped your taste, posture, economic outlook, and lingo.
You could do the same with me.
Our work probably looks like who we work with. Our music we write probably sounds like our music heroes. Our art probably resembles the work that convinced us to pick up the brush. Our coaching probably resembles the coaching of who once coached us. I could be wrong here, but I’ll take the bet.
So the question here is who or what needs muting and who or what needs to be turned up?
We can’t keep our surrounding sounds a secret.
Indeed, they are the melodies we whistle while we work.

The Further In The Game I Get…

The more I pray for awareness.

It is:

  • the inception of imagination.
  • the one who takes notice of the shadows.
  • the connection of seeing how things truly are as opposed to seeing them as I see them or want to see them.
  • the birthplace of action and her urgency.
  • the code cracker.
  • what chooses the response from a stimulus.
  • what got me here (good or bad) and what will get me to the next stop (good or bad).

Eyes wide open, I sure have missed a lot.
