Unsexy X 10,000 = Sexy

Listening without correcting.

Looking without critiquing.

Buying and holding.

Reading and studying.

Running a mile.

Going under the radar.

Early to bed and early to rise.

“I’ll pass.”

Paying down your debts.

 “Thank you.”

Do something unsexy ten thousand times and you will have brought sexy back.

Shared Prayer

The artist, mom, dad, leader, teacher, business owner, pastor, coach, architect, designer, decorator, and chef all bow with the same prayer.

“Lord, help me to see.”

This shared prayer for all creatives is a communal longing for vision and the harbor to our ocean of music.

Have you thought of yourself as a conduit lately?

We all are. We just don’t think about it often.

Right now on a sheet of paper write your name.

Now – next to your name write – a means of transmitting, distributing, or expressing.

Didn’t realize you held that responsibility, capability, and power did you?

Gaps

All of us want to be someplace or person that we are not today. But there’s a gap.

It is in the narrowing and/or shortening of this gap that defines success and opens our eyes to the world of possibility.

A great day is one that ends with the gap closed ever so slightly.

Today, may you lose sight of the shore on your voyage into the horizon of your hopes, may your blurred vision of destiny become just a bit more clear, and may that riff bouncing in your head start to get legs and become a song.

Don’t worry about what you may be, but please obsess over what you are becoming in the gap.

The $4.00 Card Author That Robbed You

Millions of Valentine’s cards were purchased yesterday and exchanged.

Pause for a second…there’s a multi-million dollar economy that writes one to ten heart-felt sentences on your behalf for you to give to someone.

This economy exists because most don’t believe in their poetry. Vulnerability was at stake and most chose the $4.00 card over exposing their gratitude and love themselves.

Knowing this, they (Hallmark, American Greetings, Target) took your moment, they took your pen, and they took your chance to give artistic meaning through written expression.

And yet this happens in various forms everyday doesn’t it?

Every day is a fight to release your poetry, art, and musings and get your pen back.
