A.E.P.

Gandhi once said…”Action expresses priorities.”

I’m going to start referring to this as A.E.P. And today A.E.P. becomes tattooed all over my office, car, and even my hand (with marker).

In other words…

  • My laziness reveals something about my priorities.
  • My focus shows what is important to me.
  • My complaining casts a shadow on what I value.
  • Alas, my instrument practice shows how much I care about my music.

The only thing I can find that precedes an action is a decision. So the question for the day is, how are you going to decide to act?

How Soon?

How soon will it be until all of this sets in?

  • The world is smaller than ever and shrinking in size daily.
  •  A Human Touch > Digital Footprint
  • Print media Kool-Aid has passed its use by date.
  • Decision and action will change your life.
  • Music gets noticed in a noisy world.
  • Cheese moves.
  • Love wins.

Timing is everything so pray it sets in sooner than later.

Vision 2012

I arrived at Baylor University in the academic year of 2001-2002. This was the year the university released it’s somewhat unpopular Vision 2012.

One of the vision goals was to become competitive in all sports. It is now 2012 and this year Baylor University has:

  • Won the Alamo Bowl
  • Received its first Heisman Award Winner
  • Finished #11 in Football final rankings
  • Won National Championship in Women’s Basketball
  • Men’s Basketball made it to Elite 8
  • Men’s Baseball has just won 24 games in a row and broke the Big 12 record for conference wins in a row.

The Scriptures explain “where is no vision the people perish.”  And where there is vision, the possibilities are endless.

When you tell the world where you are going somehow it tends to start clearing a way for you.

Vision has quickly become a consistent topic here at LTMPblog.com. I’m constantly reminded I need more of it.

We Are All Athletes

It could do us all some good to view our business and our work as a sport.

Not in the sense of competition, but in the sense of being prepared and in shape when the daily whistle blows to start the game.

Are you training? Get ahead of the curve – not behind it.

Are your being mentored? Even LeBron’s need a lunch appointment with His Airness every so often.

Are you watching film, reading, and studying the game? Even the freak athletes, child prodigies, and those with the highest IQ still don’t arrive here fully funded and/or developed in natural talent.

Our talent will only get us so far in the game. It’s skill that gets us the win.

Learn something today and put it to use in your sport of choice.

And remember, you practice like you play.
