Defining Need.

Business school did a great job of pounding into our heads that we were to leave, go find a need, and find a way to fulfill it.

The challenge now is in wrapping our hands around the ever-evolving definition of need.

We’re finding that the further we travel up Maslow’s pyramid the more difficult it is to put our thumb on and fulfill these needs.

Could it be that the postmodern entrepreneur’s role and responsibility is to build lodging at the top of pyramid for his customers and co-workers?

I think so.

Experience, connection, and meaning has to be the aroma, sound, feeling, and taste of whatever we build from here on out.

If you look around, that’s where we’re as hungry as we we’ve ever been.

You can start with anything…

an email,

a call,

a note,

a meeting,

an idea,

a service,

or a product.

But if it doesn’t end with trust then why even start in the first place?

Trust is the cohesive hope of our connections, communications, and commerce…She’s also the repeat button we push for our favorite music and artists.

Dwell well today, friends.

A Bicycle Took Us To The Moon

The Wright Brother’s story of flight is awesome, entrepreneurial,
inspiring, and heroic. We all know they tried and tried and
tried…and finally created liftoff.

But did you know they actually started out manufacturing bicycles
before they made and thought about their aircraft? That’s right. A
dream to pedal more efficiently to the local super-market created a
dream that eventually got us to the moon.

Quick thoughts:

Don’t pedal so fast you miss your dream in the clouds.

If you’re bored on your Monday bicycle then find a way to put some wings on it.

Achieved dreams lead to other dreams.

Gradually. Suddenly.

Gradually we pursue something.

Suddenly we’re asking ourselves how we got here.

Average steps gradually lead to an average life.

Scary, brave, interesting, and challenging steps gradually lead to the life we’ve always dreamed of.

Side by side and day by day it’s hard to distinguish the difference between average steps and the challenging steps. The only difference is when you suddenly see how different the places they take you are.

All things arrive to us gradually, but suddenly they’re noticed.

May we be the people that see what’s gradually happening around and in us. For this is the horizon of our hope.

The Stars Have Something To Disclose

Sooner or later it really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, believes, says, tweets, or posts.

It’s going to come down to what do you believe? Your beliefs will determine your steps, actions, and eventually your legacy.

Did you believe what you read in the skin and bones found in your mirror this morning?

None of this stuff we’re reading or following (including this blog) online is too legit to quit or at least pause for a season so we can think on our own.

Getting lost in the stars will never be replaced by being found on or in the web.

Go outside. Look up.
