Now That We’re In The Ocean…

…one must become a a pirate.

In an ocean of a billion tweets, a million products, and thousands of brands and ideas how will you navigate these wide waters to find what you’re truly after?

You will successfully navigate these waters and waves by choosing a pirate mentality.

Pirate the ocean for meaning.

Pirate the ocean for metaphors.

Pirate the ocean for depth of relationship.

Go wide in these waters. Raise your sails. Make your mark. Make a splash.

Just know that what you’re looking for is probably twice as deep as it is wide.

A pirate, by nature, obsesses over the subsurface activity and the hunt of buried treasure.

We can all learn from this.

Remember When?

Give whimsy some space. You’ll be glad you did today and even more glad, looking back, tomorrow.

Let love do its thing. Fall into it. Take part in it. Let it lead you. It’s the glue of memory.

Let your music play and get lost in it. How great would it be to look back at a day, week, month, year, or decade and be able to claim it felt symphonic?

Full is the man that often recalls ‘remember when?’.

Alas, I’m glad I did > I wish I had.

Footnote: You are the contingency of your experience.

You Saw It, You Just Missed It

Your hand is on a computer mouse, smart phone, keyboard, or laptop right now. Have you blocked that fact out? Jobs saw this coming in the 80’s while hacking away in his garage.

There’s probably a lightbulb buzzing around you right now. Did you miss that? Edison sat in the dark and saw this moment for us in 1879.

The rising sun is casting neon rays against the clouds and across the horizon. Did you catch that? Or was it blotted out by a Starbucks sign? Could you capture that beauty and put a fraction of it into what you make today?

The rose is in bloom. Are you?

And people. What about people? What about souls? Are they data and statistics? Or are they the ocean of your experience?

Most often, it’s not that you can’t see what’s around you. Oh you can see alright! Rather, it’s simply that you’re not looking. Or, you’re not looking for the right things in the odd and rare places they can found.

Look.

Whatever you’re looking for, you can find it anywhere. And typically, when we’re looking for something we see it everywhere.

So the BIG question is what are you looking for? Hope? A pity party? Passion? Joy? Profit? A deal? The next rung on the ladder? Measurement? Yourself? Experience? Meaning?

In a world powered by your music, we give all too much attention to the noise around us.

Before I hit publish I prayed that you would have whatever moment, person, experience, or thought you need to see today.

There’s Time Left

In three weeks, you’ll get to look back at what you said you would do in 2013 and you’ll get to look ahead and say what you’re going to do in 2014.

If we don’t know where we’re going, there’s no telling where we’ll go.

If you want to love a year, obsess over a day, grind out the hours, and be present in the minutes.

One day can change a year and change a life.

There’s time left.

It’s a Battle…

…to say ‘yes’ to now.

…to say ‘no’ to more stuff.

…to say ‘yes’ to today.

…to stay true to your core.

…to not be swooned by the trend.

…to create value.

…to create, lead, and design a life to mean something.

…for a business to romance its niche.

…to hear your inner-voice over the world’s noise.

…to start.

…to grow.

…to change.

…to love.

…to be brave.

…to leave it all on the field.

Battles seem to be the overwhelming theme of the stories we can’t get enough of.

They are the maps between our wants and what we have.

We all want a story, but we tend to avoid the battle get it.

Can’t have one without the other.
