We See Better When You Shine

It’s no longer the corporate race to the top or a discount race to the bottom that wins. Rather, it’s the waltz of connection, the glow of enlightenment, and the rays that shine from swapping the holiest of all commodities – information.

There are no more jobs left. Just the work you were sent here to do.

It’s impossible for your future to look dim if you’re willing to shine in that role.

A protagonist is someone who knows what they want and overcomes conflict to get it.

So shine and #WriteYourStory.

Chip and Putt

No matter your industry, passion, or art there’s probably something that gets most of the attention (the driver), but for those that see how things truly are they know it’s really about something else in the bag.

Every guy wearing a green jacket points the blame at his putter.

I’ve yet to experience a eulogy, acceptance speech, or award ceremony that mentioned Twitter.

Looks like this is becoming a tradition.

2013.

2012.

Keep calm. It’s Masters week.

What’s At The End of Your Fork?

Or maybe the more appropriate question is, what are your craving to be at the end of your fork?

Most times we give into the cravings. Because no matter the diet, we crave the foods of that diet. A bad diet craves bad foods. A good diet craves good foods.

Back to your fork.

What’s at the end of it?

Hope?

Gossip?

Purpose?

Pity?

One thing our culture can never seem get full on is stories. Great stories. Stories with well nourished characters.

So when you live a great story, in a way, those around you are well nourished – i.e. – inspired and encouraged to be alive in their own story.

Or put another way, when you nourish yourself, you give light and direction towards what will nourish others into their own great stories. Life, at its core, is a constant conversation about our metaphorical diets.

Alas, your story isn’t your fork’s fault.

The Shade You Are Looking For

Our world is governed by many natural laws, one of those being the Law of Cause and Effect.

If you got to your office this morning, you took the train or drove a car to get there. You didn’t close your eyes and I Dream Of Jeannie yourself there. If you’re having coffee today, either you made it or you went to Starbucks. Coffee can’t just appear in your hands. To read this blog, you either booted up your computer or unlocked your phone and inbox. Nothing just happens.

For every effect there is something that is essential for that effect to be or become a reality.

Thus the conversation of cause and effect is more about necessity than it is anything else.

Looking for shade? Then let’s talk about necessity.

Wherever there is shade, someone or something is going to need to have planted a tree.

If It Was Easy, Everyone Would Be Fulfilled

I recently heard one of my heros, Matt Chandler, state that ‘most things that are not fought for are never had.’

These words rang a bell with me.

Unfortunately, the only way to coast is downhill and chances are what we all truly want out of our lives, families, and businesses is going to require an uphill battle, resistance, and a climb of some sort.

I’ve said this before, but I believe it’s worth repeating. The reason we gawk at mountains is due in part to us being able to hear their plea for us to come and climb them.

May we be battle responsive in-lieu of being battle oblivious. The only thing better than the view atop Mt. Everest is the fulfillment one holds.
