How You See

How you see today just may affect the rest of your life.

Most, with foggy eyes, just see a Monday ahead them and have self-diagnosed themselves with a case of the Mondays.

Then there are those today that will truly have the best day of their lives. They will look back and see March 11, 2013 as the day they changed their world, changed another’s world, thought of the million dollar idea, started something, quit something, moved something, created something, or shared something.

Let’s be souls that eagerly await and move into moments that hold this possibility of authoring the best day of our lives.

This thing is happening. This thing is happening right now. Don’t just watch…see where you belong in the music.

Your Hands

…speak on behalf of your leadership.

…give us the best sermons.

…show us your heart.

…shake, poke, and connect better than any social media platform ever will.

…are what we will remember when you’re gone.

Don’t sit on them.

Innocent

A hero of mine once wrote, “I’d love to start again, go back to innocent – and never leave.” That hero would be David Crowder.

At two years of age, my daughter rarely has a day that wasn’t at some point a blast or leaves her awestruck saying “oh my!”. I’m starting to think that innocence has a lot to do with this.

We finish our days  locked in our inbox instead of gazing at the cosmos and we start our days fogged in the  breaking news in-lieu of being lost in the rays of possibility that the sunrise holds.

Could it be that we know too much and experience too little?

I’ll never forget the day my life changed. Mid February 2006. That was the day I went from “wondering generality to meaningful specific.” It was also the most innocent day of my life.

I try to go back to that day everyday now.

Innocence makes color jump off of the blank canvas and leaves us saying “oh my!”

Have you thought of yourself as a conduit lately?

We all are. We just don’t think about it often.

Right now on a sheet of paper write your name.

Now – next to your name write – a means of transmitting, distributing, or expressing.

Didn’t realize you held that responsibility, capability, and power did you?

Rare and Valuable

The natural lean today is to make a list of our goals in regards to what we want to become in the next 365 days.

Most people will want to become:

stronger,

skinnier,

more healthy,

more wealthy,

smarter,

faster,

or better at ________.

All of which are worthwhile and respectable goals, but  today I’m arguing for you to dwell on your “be” goals rather than your “become” goals.

For example, when you are rare and valuable overtime you become and create something rare and valuable. Rare choices breed rare returns and value-able people are compensated accordingly because of their ability to create that value. Funny, but words do what they promise…be rare and you will become something rare – which will probably have value to someone somewhere.

Ask any Navy Seal, world-class athlete, top producing salesperson, hallowed artist, best-selling author, or studio musician and you will hear stories full or rare events and intense training – most of which was done while no one was watching.

So go ahead and seek to get noticed, get sought out, stand out from the crowd, lose weight, or build wealth this year – but don’t forget you and your story will have to be something rare and valuable.

We have to be a certain way before we can become the goals we are after.
