The Cup-Bearers We Trust

Information and data was once a sacred commodity that only the few could afford access to. It was a stream we could fish in, but now it’s an ocean in which we can only hope to stay afloat.

Now that the information and data is too much to sift through, too thick to read, and changing all too often, it’s one’s recommendation that has now become the gold standard of our research.

Essentially, your sphere of influence now acts as your cup-bearer to the world you metaphorically drink in. In other words, we’ll trust the taste and palate of a friend over Google any day. I don’t see this changing anytime soon.

Think of it this way. When you pour your customer a drink, i.e., serve them – then somewhere down the road you’ve just poured one for one of their friends as well. But by the time the friend is ready to drink, he’ll already have a thumbs up or thumbs down about your style and service from the customer you served today.

Get this and you’ll get a win tomorrow.

Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?

The more the world spins the more we’re finding it belongs not to the ones with all the right answers, but those curious enough to ask what they hope are the right questions and brave enough to ask the wrong ones that may be wrong.

Leadership was once show and tell, but has now morphed into ask and listen.

What Is The Music?

Or maybe the more important question is what is your music?

I’ve been on this venture just long enough to start shaping my definition of  the music. While I think I’ve just become close enough to start seeing its outline, she’s (the music) becoming more and more into focus each day.

Here it goes……

Music refers to the experience that is heard, felt, and seen and the story that unfolds when one’s values, passions, talents, ideas, conscience, and core beliefs come together, come alive, and crescendo in this world we exist in. Music is your experience, your fulfillment, and your meaning. Music is your presence when you’re not around.

Music is what we’re all after that we’ve had a hard time defining. It’s what we want at home, at work, in our hobbies, in our relationships, and in life.

The Muse calls out to all of us Red Rover, Red Rover let __________ come over. The music happens when we accept the call and start to run.

Like that guy…

Why do it like the guy in the next cubicle?

Why do it like the last guy that came before you?

We’ve seen him – noticed him – and he holds that spot in our minds.

That’s his spot – not yours.

But you’re different.

Your eye sees differently.

Your pen writes differently.

Your words flow differently.

Your style is stylish because it’s different.

When you are different everyone sees it. They see it because it’s hard to miss different in a world of normal.

We don’t need more and more of what we already have.

That’s where you come in.
