What’s Your Point?

Or should we ask, “what are you pointing at?”

Are you pointing us towards something to tolerate or something to celebrate?

Are you pointing us at the seen or the unseen?

Are you pointing us towards the noise or the music?

We must constantly ask ourselves what are we pointing at, because that in itself will be the point we leave behind.

Our fingers don’t point back at us for a reason.

Get the point?

Waking Up In a Hotel

Discovery is the predecessor of experience, fulfillment, and meaning.

How else can you write new music without seeing a moment or something in a new way?

I don’t think you can.

I thought about this as I woke up in a hotel to speak on LTMP at a conference this morning.

While there’s no place like home, I hope you’ll leave your home each day as if you were traveling.

We point out things, smell the roses more often, and pursue discovery when we are out of our routines.

Our Muse is The Great Concierge and knows all the discoveries to get you to the experience, fulfillment, and meaning your after.

Looking for something to do? Have you asked The Concierge?

The New Rules Aren’t So New

If there are any new rules, they’re just a repeat of the ones we were originally taught kindergarten.

Be nice to one another. Share. Say please and thank you.

This is good news as humanity and soul get to inch back into our businesses and have an active role in our measurements of success and, honestly, even our profitability.

So you have a choice to make. You can keep on keeping on until you have no choice but to participate in the new rules. You can keep pointing at the numbers and asking their opinion. Or, you can take an active role in re-writing the rules for your industry, customer, or tribe. You can point at the soul and ask her thoughts on the matters in question. I think it’s safe to assume, today, that she may have more insight than your spreadsheet does.

NEWSFLASH! The rat race just became a music recital. And aren’t we glad this is so?

Discipline: The Code & The Shovel

Imagine having had the chance of being behind the scene’s with the likes of Tiger Woods, Picasso, or Edison. Imagine being in Tiger’s gym. Think of Pablo’s studio. Picture Thomas’ lab.

There’s no doubt we would be convicted and probably shocked with the surplus of do-overs, thrown away drafts, ruined canvases, and sheer commitment.

If we were there we would see discipline. Nothing more – nothing less.

Discipline is the code to the artist’s padlock of imagination.

There’s art in all of us and it’s discipline that digs it out.

We often underestimate what we have to do to get what we want to have done.

What Is The Music?

Or maybe the more important question is what is your music?

I’ve been on this venture just long enough to start shaping my definition of  the music. While I think I’ve just become close enough to start seeing its outline, she’s (the music) becoming more and more into focus each day.

Here it goes……

Music refers to the experience that is heard, felt, and seen and the story that unfolds when one’s values, passions, talents, ideas, conscience, and core beliefs come together, come alive, and crescendo in this world we exist in. Music is your experience, your fulfillment, and your meaning. Music is your presence when you’re not around.

Music is what we’re all after that we’ve had a hard time defining. It’s what we want at home, at work, in our hobbies, in our relationships, and in life.

The Muse calls out to all of us Red Rover, Red Rover let __________ come over. The music happens when we accept the call and start to run.
