2 Views of Today

You can see today as a shot, an opportunity, or orchestrated divinity from your yesterday’s.

Or, like most, you can see it as a do-over, a mulligan, or a repeat of the past.

Let’s talk about the past. Every experience, reaction, response, and thought you’ve had thus far brought you here to this thing before you called today.

So be careful, today, with your experiences, reactions, responses, and thoughts because they will create your tomorrow.

Today > Tomorrow until Tomorrow is called Today.

A Letter from 2014

Dearest Musician,

This is your time.

This is your canvas.

So gather your instruments, join your fellow musicians, and let your music play.

Know that you are a better teacher for yourself than any book will ever be. Listen to the mirror.

However, it’s not what you know that will fulfill you. It’s what you become when you do what you do and witnessing who that impacts that will fulfill you.

Keep a lookout for the unseen, untouched, and unloved people, places, and things. There is great opportunity in such discoveries.

And lastly, say no to karaoke and yes to something original.

Yours truly,

Two Thousand and Fourteen

The Right Time

You may have the right product or the right idea and you may even have a scenario for what you perceive to be as the right place, but if it isn’t the right time for the person on the other side of the exchange, chances are there will not be an exchange.

And that’s ok.

So the proper focus and goals for our days should not be to maneuver scripts and dialogues to get people from a place of not being to buy to being ready to buy, but simply to love, serve, and clothe our relationships in The Golden Rule.

You can’t create the right time for people buy something or buy into you, but you can love and serve in the meantime until the time is right for them.

If you’ve done so, rest assured, the knock at the door will come soon.

A purchase is the byproduct of trust and trust is the byproduct of love and service.

Here’s the deal…there isn’t an hour, moment, or day where love and service aren’t welcomed. For such things, it’s always the right place and the right time.

The Cup-Bearers We Trust

Information and data was once a sacred commodity that only the few could afford access to. It was a stream we could fish in, but now it’s an ocean in which we can only hope to stay afloat.

Now that the information and data is too much to sift through, too thick to read, and changing all too often, it’s one’s recommendation that has now become the gold standard of our research.

Essentially, your sphere of influence now acts as your cup-bearer to the world you metaphorically drink in. In other words, we’ll trust the taste and palate of a friend over Google any day. I don’t see this changing anytime soon.

Think of it this way. When you pour your customer a drink, i.e., serve them – then somewhere down the road you’ve just poured one for one of their friends as well. But by the time the friend is ready to drink, he’ll already have a thumbs up or thumbs down about your style and service from the customer you served today.

Get this and you’ll get a win tomorrow.

Now I Know My ZYX’s

My wife has created the coolest play area for our girls at our home. It screams think big, think differently, think in color, and let your music play.

On one of the walls in this room is a vintage alphabet with each letter individually framed on the wall. While spending time with one of my daughters in this room this weekend, I decided to learn the alphabet backwards.

I’ve attempted this before, but have not had any luck. Nevertheless, this time was different. I had the full picture of the alphabet in front of me.

After 10 minutes of stuttered chants and eyes locked on the wall I could do finally it without a pause or flaw.

We need the full picture don’t we?

Only then can we go from start to finish or from finish to start and never feel like a fish out of water.
