Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: “Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.” It wasn’t the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.

In this latest episode of Good / True / & Beautiful Podcast, Ashton interviews John Mark with a focus on his latest book, The Relentless Elimination of Hurry, that comes out on October 29th.

Surpassing understanding

Wouldn’t it be great to not always have to understand everything, everyone, and every moment?

Wouldn’t a surrender to the need to always have everything under your control and within your cognitive grasp actually lead you to rest?

Widom across all traditions has suggested that there is a place and a posture on the other side of such understanding.

This is a place called Peace.

And Peace it is the capital of Freedom.

And both are found in the land of Rest.

The Cosmic Conversation

It seems to involve connection and relationship.

Its theme, plot, and storyline is loss, renewal, and transformation beyond itself.

The only agreed upon word, thought, and idea it seems to be conveying is Love.

It only knows the present moment. Yesterday and tomorrow are not a part of the vocabulary.

Why are we only talking about money?
