Episode 32: Holstee Co-Founder Mike Radparvar

The recession hit and Mike Radparvar decided with his brother and a friend to start something new. That something new would be a New York based company they would call Holstee. But more than just create a company that would create a living for these entrepreneurs, they wanted to curate and stand for something that would help them facilitate the making of a life worth living. That’s when they wrote the Holstee Manifesto and one hundred million clicks later, they are still trying to find the words for what they have on their hands. Holstee now has inspired millions across the globe and offers an incredible monthly subscription that provides a space for subscribers to reflect on what matters the most and explores one mindful theme each month through art, words, and action.

Here and Now.

Mystery is not the absence of meaning, but the presence of more meaning than we can comprehend. Eugene Peterson

Wonder and awe is typically found in our own front or backyards. You realize that’s what we truly want, right? More than retirement, more than five-star hotels, more than fame, more than a following, and more than whatever you have currently prescribed as your life’s Z-Pak. We want to experience our days wide-eyed and wowed at the beautifully webbing and interconnectedness of it all.

And you may not even need to go that far. Chances are such wonder and meaning is probably just as thick in the room or situation you find yourself in.

If, and only if, you are with it.

If our presence is a choice, so is our meaning.

Gifts and Gratitude

Rain that wakes you up in the middle of the night, the smell of coffee even before you experience the taste, the regrouping period after a laugh attack, and the orchid that calls your name when you walk in the local market…these are the recognized gifts of those who are awake to the grace peppered over their moments. If we can stay in such a state of awareness, we will turn every corner with holy and eager anticipation.

As you approach this week be on the lookout for the small, the mostly overlooked, and even the moments you would typically avoid (getting out of bed at 3 am to watch the rain).

Gratitude opens the gate to the garden of our souls. And if that garden is available and can receive the seeds, sun, and rain it needs to flourish then you just may find the theme of life that every human is longing for.

Our job is to open the gate and part the veil to make the garden available. It’s Another’s job to provide the seed, sun, and rain.

To be open and available with a grounding ‘Thank you’, truly, is a WONDERful place to point your days.
