What Will We Master?

You will be known and remembered by what you master.

And we all will master something.

Unfortunately, it’s easier to master pity parties and gossip than it is something that is truly great.

But you want something great. You are worthy of greatness.

All the research shows there’s 10,000 hours between you and that which you’re going to master.

Don’t look up to find yourself the host of a 600,000 minute pity party.

I will tell you now, no one will RSVP.

The Benefit of the Doubt

When you fundamentally give someone a new way to look at their world, their purchasing, their behavior, or their thinking, you’ve then just led them somewhere….and that’s what we all deep down want with every new connection.

We all hope to meet Christopher Columbus. And we want to go somewhere new on La Pinta.

There’s a benefit in the doubts others have about your ideas, products, and services. But you’ve got to look at it backwards to find the benefit.

When you can get your ________ to benefit them – there’s no doubt it’s going to come full circle and find a way to benefit you as well.

I’m almost certain Columbus’ words when he hit the shore of the Americas was not ‘wow’…rather, I envision him turning to his comrades and asking – “now do you believe me?”

We need to find more doubters of our music and turn them into dancers.

Bravery be with us.

You’ve Been Granted Citizenship

How do I get to _____? Where’s a good place to _______? What does it mean when ________? Como se dice ________?

This is tourist talk.

The masses are tourists of their dreams. Only visiting every so often and never fully learning the language.

Change gears.

This is who I am. This is where I’m going. This is what this all means.

A citizen says and knows such things.

If no one has ever told you this, I’m sorry – but you are most definitely worthy of citizenship in your dreams.

Enter. Interact. Partake. Soak it in. Drink it up. This is real.

10 Years From Now What Will Still Be Warm?

We often ask how the world will be different 10 years from today, but rarely discuss what will still be the same.

None of us know what will be hot 10 years from today. Some of us think we do, but hot things aren’t necessarily predictable. So the questions is what will still be warm? What will be constant?

The most probable answers are things like: respect, relationship, service, response, speed, communication, and experience. 10 years from today they will be warm. 100 years from today they will still be warm.

It’s much riskier to put all your chips on the hottest platform, media outlet, or trend than it is the things that are warm and constant.

That is not to say we should ignore what’s hot. We just can’t forget that entrepreneurship and good business is embracing what’s hot in the pursuit of what never gets cold.

Working Backwards

All things, including our lives and our businesses, were never meant to be about us.

A funny thing happens when we start with the needs of others and go create, cultivate, and work in our businesses from there…and by funny I mean the world becomes a better place.

The old model was this: Start with you and go do something from the there. Thanks to mass market advertising this worked.

However, the new model that is working is backwards: Start with the customer and go do something for them from there.

A lot is changing, but finding a group need and fulfilling it is still very much in style.

To move forward we all need to work backwards in the new model.

Truth > Trend.
