Podcast Quotes:

  • “….at some moment I did answer Yes to Someone, or Something, and from that hour I was certain that existence is meaningful and that, therefore, my life, in self-surrender, had a goal.” Dag Hammarskjold
  • “Art isn’t only a painting. Art is anything that’s creative, passionate, and personal. And great art resonates with the viewer, not only with the creator.

An artists is someone who uses bravery, insight, creativity, and boldness to challenge the status quo. And an artists takes it personally.

Art is a personal gift that changes the recipient. The medium doesn’t matter. The intent does.

Art is a personal act of courage, something one human does that creates change in another.”

    Seth Godin

  • You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams. Dr. Seuss
  • We eventually know that Someone Else is working through us, in us, for us, and in spite of us. After enlightenment, our life is not our own…..We stop fretting about our smallness. Our yes deeply matters. The word for that yes and that connection is, quite simply, love.  Richard Rohr
  • “Rest until you feel like playing, then play until you feel like resting.” Martha Beck
  • “Like fireworks, we pull apart the dark.” Sleeping At Last
  • The border between music and noise is always culturally defined
    —which implies that, even within a single society, this border does not always pass through the same place;
in short, there is rarely a consensus …
By all accounts there is no single and intercultural universal concept defining what music might be. Jean-Jacques Nattiez
  • And, finally, I believe that all these things are true, and that [the] “unanswered question” has an answer. I’m no longer sure what the question is, but I do know the answer — and the answer is, “Yes.” Leonard Berstein

Name Changing

When the eyes are new, everything is renewed, refreshed, and recharged.

Paul Valéry once said, “To see is to forget the name of the thing one sees.”

What have you been calling yourself?

Eyes. Wide. Awake.

The more you dig into the universe the more you begin to to notice its’ harmony, cadence, and eternal tone. And when you start to see the lines and know the dots of reality that is when the music in-between the two becomes more and more electric.

Think of the last stranger you crossed paths with that left you better than when you found them. Most likely, they were awake – present – or connected with some idea, action, or insight into reality that you never knew of or never had a proper introduction with.

No matter the season you find yourself in, an awake soul is always a refreshing encounter. They move us to melt the joy frozen in winter, bloom a better bloom in the spring, surf the summer shores, and the soak in the re-energy of autumn as it is intended.

3 Things:

1) If we’re going to be strangers to approximately 7.3 billion people, let’s at least be ones that glow.

2) The awake conversation always starts in the eyes. Show me the direction of your eyes and I’ll show you the direction of your life.

3) “Therefore we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen…”

Marbling

Walk with me here.

Take 5 globs of different colored play-doh.

And let’s name them the colors of health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution.

Now take those five colors and roll them into the shape of a ball.

Notice the marbling?

You’re staring at the ideal metaphor of what you want your days to look and feel like.

Four words: now go do that.
