Undefended

If you want to see war, you will see a war everywhere. If you’re looking for dead ends, every turn will continually produce no outlet for possibility. If you want pessimism, there’s plenty to be pessimistic about. And if you want cynicism, there’s plenty of opportunities to be cynical. You don’t have to look far for this to be true.

However, the same can also be said for another way.

A better way.

If you want to see love, you will always find an opportunity to see great love lingering in the mundane. If you long for peace, moments for peacemaking will consistently present themselves via serendipity.

Whatever it is we seek, eventually we find it.

If you’re seeking a war, there’s probably one happening in your chest.

If you’re seeking love, then your heart has probably been transformed into a jukebox that is pumping beautiful ballads.

Question…what do you want to see?

In the end, we will only see the world in whatever the posture of our heart is, from moment to moment. And how we see, in the world, is how we will be in the world.

As we drop our weapons, which can often be loaded with opinionated bullets, we find ourselves undefended and open handed. It’s at this time that we find our hands are now prepared to catch and receive the truth that is being presented to us everywhere and all of the time.

And then, and only then, can we beautifully regift that truth back into the world and for the good of those we’ve been entrusted to lead and befriend.

The moment, this one happening right now, holds such holy potential to both heal old wounds or create new ones. Show me someone that is undefended and I’ll show you someone that is ready to heal the people, the moments, and the stories their life crosses paths with.

Whole and in union. > Fragmented and divided.

Have you ever met a whole person? If you have, they stick with you. Their words, their insights, their expressions, their actions, and their responses all echo from a place of wholeness, unity, reconciliation, and compassion. Everything about them is like a song. A song that heals. A song that illuminates. They know that they don’t know and somehow this has mysteriously connected their dots of life, meaning, and purpose.

Have you ever spent time with a fragmented or divided person? Every moment offers them an opportunity to earn another Masters of Victim Administration. They’ll hand out mirrors as often as they can but they’ll never look in one themselves. The problem is always “over there” and it could never be “in here”. They define everything, including themselves and others, through the lens of competition, criticism, ranking, fragmentation, and division. For some reason they would rather chop and retweet wood with the media to fuel the fires of noise than be an unnoticed vessel for redemption. This is consciousness at the lowest, reptilian level.

The etymology of the word and the idea of a person, comes from the latin verb personare. Per = through….sonar = sound. A sounding through. The original meaning of what it meant to be human was to be a sounding through. How beautiful is that?

Lesson(s) of the day:

  • The message of hope and the music of Love cannot travel through something that is fragmented and divided.
  • We have to start sharing the good and healing moments and movements that are happening and not the loud and clanging symbols of quid pro quo.
  • Most noise makers, unfortunately, haven’t been shown a better way. That’s where you come in.

How do you habituate what will transform you?

It starts in our eyes.

We must understand that the mediums and moments that transform us are rarely convenient or easily welcomed.

What if we were able to see traffic jams, slow wi-fi, misunderstandings, miscommunication, challenging relationships, and inclement weather to be our teachers?

What if somehow, someway, we could believe that the cosmos aligned these teaching moments for us?

For us.

For our good.

For our transformation.

Would compassion become our compass?

Would grace become the gifts we give?

Would Love become our language?

Would vulnerability become our value system?

Would transformation become a habit?

Yes.

May we all remember that The Flow is always in our favor, and because this is so, may transformation become habitual.

Light…

…doesn’t boast.

…reveals the essence of the matter it touches.

…often isn’t noticed until it’s missing.

…warms.

…illuminates.

… is you.

…is me.

…is us.

You can choose to be love or you can choose to be light.

Choose one and you’ll be both.
